Go-to-Market Strategy

The plan for how a new product will reach its first customers: who they are, what it costs, where it is sold and how it is promoted.

In detail

A go-to-market (GTM) strategy defines the target customer, positioning, pricing, sales and marketing channels and the launch timeline, with the numbers that show whether it is working.

For startups it usually starts narrow, with one customer segment and one or two channels, and widens once those work.

How this relates to our work

Go-to-Market Strategy comes up most often in our startup & business consulting work. Business consultancy for founders and new startups: idea validation, business plan and financial model, pitch deck, MVP scope, technology strategy and go-to-market, from a team that also builds the product.
